Pieces from the Past
Archaeology of the Arboretum
As part of the Conditional Use Permit to allow the Arboretum to be used as a public space an archaeological survey was required. As this was a homestead site, next to a clay tile factory and located along a creek that flows into the Columbia there was high expectations of both historic and pre-contact archaeology.
Initial excavations are just beginning but already producing artifacts from both time periods.
Found History
While working on the Stanger House and the 1941 Caboose there have been discoveries that tell us more about the history of the structures and the people that lived on the property.
