SP&S 760 3/18/26 Work Party
We finally got a break from the rain and had a beautiful day to get some work done. We had James, Gene, John, Jay and me on the crew. We finished digging out all the rot in the timbers, sprayed it all down with borate solution, and were able to complete the sub floor. Jacks were used to lift the walls on each side of the door. The rotted ends of frame members were cut away and sill boards cut to fill in the space. The gap between the door and the door frame was used to make sure the walls were raised to the correct height. The door latch lines up perfectly. The north end fly rafter was test fitted. It’s starting to look like a caboose again! It will have to come down and get painted for before it is permanently installed. I also test fit one of the fly rafter supports on the south end. Jay will be donating all most all the OSB sheathing we will need. Thank-you so much Jay! We put a piece on the roof just to get a feel for it.
